Walford Park and Recreation Minutes
Regular Meeting August 3rd, 2021
Meeting called to order at 7:07 pm. Lane, Primmer, Miner, and Davis present. One vacancy.
Motion by Miner to approve the July 6 meeting minutes. Seconded by Lane. Approved unanimous.
Pickle ball court - several items discussed:
Concrete problems exist - pad appears to be tilting, un-level spots remain.
Options -
Amount/density of re-bar is uncertain
Pickle ball court expansion
Quote was received for review from Courts Fore Sports
Proposal to seek additional quotes for fencing move/re-install
Proposal to seek alternative quotes for concrete repair/leveling/expansion
Further investigation discussed regarding integrity of entire concrete pad at the court
Park bench
Motion to move forward with Boland Recreation quote for purchase of one SG306P park bench by Lane, seconded by Davis.
Citizen comments
Question regarding if any insurance coverage exists to cover workmanship?
Question regarding if it should be considered an option to proceed with an alternative surface to replace the existing tile court. Alternative surfacing inquiries to be made.
General baseball program
Bat donation received
IABA tournament held this past weekend - 10 teams from the area played across both days with a good result
Lights were powered up both nights and are fully functional
Halloween Program
Flyer confirmed for distribution
Request for resident volunteers to organize Halloween party to be made via social media
Basketball Court Project
Discussion included items to specify:
Court size and overall concrete surface size - current quoted options of 84' 4" x 51' 4" (preferred) and 46' 4" x 75' 10"
Placement/replacement relative to existing basketball court location
Accessibility limitations that could exist
Hoop specs
General Equipment Grounds and Maintenance
Metal pipe dome in main park is rusty and requires paint
Fill dirt is needed around the Pickle Ball court pad to create a safer approach to the court and eliminate the drop-off
Wooden benches have wood that has become warped and should be replaced as is no longer safe to use.
