Walford Park and Recreation Minutes
Regular Meeting Tuesday May 2nd, 2023
Meeting called to order at 7:04pm. Hebert, Primmer, Lane present. Davis and Miner absent
Motion by Lane to approve April minutes, seconded by Primmer. Approved unanimous.
Motion by Lane to approve Lease of concession stand to Pam Beatty for 2023 Baseball Season, seconded by Primmer. Approved unanimously.
All Equipment has been ordered, baseball, chalk, uniforms and should be good for the season.
General Equipment/Grounds/Maintenance - Baseball diamonds need tall grass trimmed around all fencing.
Basketball and Pickleball court still needs to be backfilled with dirt and seeded. Request this be done as soon as possible before it gets too hot and grass seed won't take.
Request Pickleball court bench be installed as soon as possible so the Pickleball league can utilize the bench.
Citizen comments - Question regarding other Iowa Valley League town teams, Little League and Pony League regarding teams.
Paper that the baseball sign-up was printed on was very dark, suggest lighter paper color so can be more easily read and copied.
Suggestion offered to consider outdoor exercise equipment stations around the walking trail.
Walford Fun Days. Paula was present to update on schedule
Friday - Family Friendly Dance @ Knapp Creek Event Center 5-9 PM, will include Da Flava Food Truck on Knapp Creek Property
Saturday - Morning Yoga in the Park - Walford City Park 8-9 am
Pickleball Clinic - Walford City Park 9:30 - noon
Vendor Fair - Clover Ridge United Methodist Church 9 am - 2 pm
Walford/Fairfax Fire Department - Walford City Park
Hay Rides - Trinity Luther Church 11 am - 2 pm
Bag Tournament - Walford City Park 10:30 am
Fireworks at dusk - Walford Baseball Fields, will include Moo Moo's Ice Cream Truck
Sunday - Sunrise Ecumenical Church Services - 10:30 am Walford City Park
The Meet Up at Knapp Creek Event Center 11 am - 3 pm
Request for Port o Potties at City Hall in parking lot for weekend of event (similar to where they are located for Walford Garage Sales)
If a banner is printed for Walford fun days would city allow use of and install stakes with banner? Similar to what baseball banner use to be put up as you are coming into town.
Walford Fun Days committee requested up to $500 sponsorship for food truck(s)
Lane motion to approve, seconded by Primmer, approval unanimous. Invoice to come to city request payment as soon as possible.
Andy Primmer gave formal resignation since he is moving out of Walford and house is pending for sale.
Motion to adjourn by Lane at 8:15 pm. Seconded by Primmer. Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm
