September 1st, 2020 – Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes

Walford Park and Recreation Minutes

Regular Meeting                                                                                                          Tuesday September 1, 2020

Meeting called to order at 7:02 pm.  Lane, Gann, Miner, Primmer present. Davis absent.

Motion to approve August minutes by Gann.  Seconded by Miner.  Approved unanimous.

Board acknowledged the installation of concrete pad at Knapp Creek park is complete.  Grass still to be seeded.  Review of picnic table options included discussion of square table with seats on 4 sides to match square 10' x 10' pad dimension.  

Motion to approve up to $1400 for picnic table purchase by Gann, seconded by Primmer.  Approved unanimous.

Discussion was had about health of the conifers around the small ball diamond.  Several have been removed already and several more may need trimming or removal.  Potential to investigate Iowa native tree program from IDNR.  Further discussion pending mapping of remaining trees and count of potential replacement trees needed.

Test of lights to be conducted in coming days for large ball diamond to assess functionality following the August 10 storm.
